Energy Storage Procurement Manager (BESS)

The Energy Storage Procurement Manager is a key role within the OX2 Energy Storage business organization, responsible for the sourcing and procurement of energy storage systems and related insurances for the successful construction of energy storage projects.
About the role
The Energy Storage Procurement Manager is responsible for defining procurement strategy, leading negotiations, managing commercial aspects, and ensuring appropriate risk allocation within contracts and procurement processes.
The scope includes integrated utility-scale energy storage solutions such as battery units, power conversion systems, control systems, transformers, and switchgear, depending on project-specific requirements.
In the short to medium term, the focus will be on the procurement of integrated lithium-ion Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role will also monitor opportunities related to alternative energy storage technologies and procurement models.
Responsibilities
- Procure energy storage solutions and insurances for OX2’s BESS projects
- Lead and conduct contract negotiations
- Manage the procurement process, including:
- Pre-qualification of suppliers, including ESG due diligence
- Coordination of tender preparation with engineering and relevant project stakeholders
- Contributing to the development and improvement of supply and long-term service agreement templates
- Providing input to CAPEX and OPEX benchmarks for energy storage projects
- Supporting lenders’ due diligence processes
- Managing claims and contractual follow-up
- Maintain and develop relationships with key suppliers
- Monitor and maintain up-to-date market intelligence on the energy storage supply chain
Who we are looking for
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in BESS procurement or sales within utility-scale projects (>30 MW/MWh) across multiple countries
- Strong commercial mindset combined with an understanding of engineering aspects
- Driven and proactive, with the ability to anticipate challenges and opportunities
- Pragmatic and collaborative, with strong listening and communication skills
- Agile and creative thinker able to identify possibilities and opportunities
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Well organized and structured
- Strong communication skills both internally and externally
- Strong expertise in commercial terms, negotiation, and risk identification and mitigation
- Experience in establishing procurement procedures, processes, and contract templates.
- Fluency in English and Italian is required
