As our Finnish business continues to grow, we are looking for a Financial Controller who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys combining hands-on accounting with business support and financial governance. 

This position is based in Helsinki. While Helsinki will be your primary office location, we also have offices in Vaasa, Oulu, and Tampere.

 

About the role 

As a Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of a portfolio of Finnish legal entities. You will work closely with colleagues across Finance, Development, Construction, Asset Management, and Investment teams, ensuring high-quality financial information, strong compliance, and efficient processes. You will report directly to the Finance Manager Nordics.  

You will be part of a collaborative finance team where accuracy, continuous improvement, and business partnership are highly valued.  

 

What you will do 

Accounting, reporting and compliance 

  • Take full accounting responsibility for assigned Finnish legal entities. 

  • Perform bookkeeping and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records. 

  • Ensure timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual closings. 

  • Prepare annual financial statements, statutory reports, and declarations. 

  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, policies, and internal controls. 

  • Maintain proper audit trails, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for financial transactions. 

  • Manage VAT registrations, VAT reporting, and tax-related filings. 

  • Support accounts payable activities. 

  • Execute and monitor payments and banking transactions. 

 

Audit and governance 

  • Act as a key contact towards external auditors and provide requested documentation and supporting material. 

  • Participate in internal control activities and compliance processes. 

  • Support the continuous improvement of financial processes, controls, and reporting routines. 

  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies and regulatory requirements. 

 

Business support 

  • Provide financial support and documentation for investors, financing activities, and other business-critical initiatives. 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to provide financial insights and support decision-making. 

  • Contribute to special projects and ad hoc analyses as the business continues to expand. 

 

Who you are 

You are a detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys taking ownership while working collaboratively with colleagues across different functions. You combine a strong accounting foundation with a proactive mindset and are comfortable operating in a fast-growing and international environment.  

We believe you bring: 

  • A master or bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. 

  • 7+ years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, or financial controlling. 

  • Strong understanding of Finnish statutory accounting requirements. 

  • Experience with month-end and year-end closing processes. 

  • Knowledge of VAT, tax, and regulatory compliance matters. 

  • Experience working with auditors and statutory reporting. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • A structured and detail-oriented approach with a commitment to high quality. 

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. 

  • Fluency in English and Finnish is a must 

  • Experience of IFS is a plus 

Experience from renewable energy, infrastructure, construction, real estate, or other project-based industries is considered highly advantageous.
